Yoinks, so many things to post updates about! Festival season kicked off back in June and has been socking it to us ever since with one amazing weekend after another – many thanks to everyone for being so patient and understanding during the busiest time of the Flowlab year!
Let’s start with classes: the new fall schedule is coming together, and I’m really excited to announce a new addition to the lineup: Guided Practice Saturdays will be coming in September – 2 hour classes structured like a community hoop jam, but with one-on-one individualized instruction throughout. Come armed with your requests, your trouble areas, tricks you’ve seen on Youtube, questions about the ever-sought-after “flow” – and get down with two hours of great music and great people. Plus, I *know* you’re going to want a space to keep hooping indoors when the weather starts to get chilly, so come get your hoop fix! If you’re a student currently registered in a Flowlab hoop series, you’ll save $10. Or, grab one or more friends and save $5 each off the cost of registration.
As for current classes – there will be NO Hoop Basics or Back to Basics classes on Tuesday nights for the next two weeks, as the Flowlab team hits the road for the Shambhala Music Festival. We’ll be spending a week at the beautiful Salmo River Ranch, spreading the joy of props and flow toys from our booth in the artisan market. Come and say hi and check out the new goodies we brought in for you this year. We’ve got some gorgeous new flowlights, collapsible LED staffs and poi from Flowtoys that we can’t wait to play with, as well as all kinds of other awesome toys that we want to see you spinning!
And last but certainly not least, stay tuned for a number of specialty workshops being offered this fall, beginning with a Twins and Minis Workshop on Saturday, September 29. Spinning twins is a whole new ball game once you’ve mastered the single hoop, and I’ve got all kinds of drills, concepts, and tricks to show you to get you in the mood for some double trouble. (Attending FireDrums this year and learning twin moves from the incredible Emma of Hooping Mad was SO inspiring and I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with you!) Pre-register for this workshop as spaces will be limited to provide one-on-one attention. If you don’t already have a set of twin hoops, I will have some for use in class, or you can contact me to pre-order your own pair (buy a pair of twin or mini hoops and save $10 on the cost of registration for the workshop!).
Current students and drop-in peeps, see you back in the gym on August 21! If you’re on the road to Shambhala next week, drive safe, and pop by the booth to say hello!
