Join the Edmonton hoop community on 12/12/12 to celebrate World Hoop Day! This marks the fourth official year the amazing Edmonton hoop community will gather to celebrate, and we hope this will be our biggest WHD yet!
Date: Wednesday, December 12, 2012
Time: 6pm to 10pm
Where: 6770-129 Avenue (entrance on north side of building)
Cost: $5 minimum donation (with proceeds towards the purchase of new hoops for the Edmonton 124 Youth Program!)
6pm to 7pm
Beginner Hoop Playshop
Led by Nina Infinity and Carla Snow, this “play”-shop is open to anybody interested in giving hooping a try! We’ll have plenty of hoops on hand if you don’t have your own, so come out and join us for a taste of hoopdance and to find out what all the fuss is about!
7pm to 10pm
Bring your hoops to the gym and dance with your Edmonton hoop community! We’ll have the music pumping and we’re predicting a gym packed full of happy, smiling hoopers getting their groove on.
Come and swap your once-loved, still awesome threads for some new ones! Hoopers have the funkiest fashion sense, so let’s come together, share our style, and clean out those closets! We’ll have tables and a clothing rack or two set up for you to spread out your swag.
This year’s World Hoop Day is pretty close to Christmas, so we’ll have hoops and other props on sale by Flowlab and Infinity Hoopdance.
The cost for this year’s event is a minimum donation of $5. Proceeds will go towards the purchase of new hoops for the 124 Youth Program!
The City of Edmonton offers free arts and recreation programs to youth year-round. From leadership, recreation and volunteering with our Rising Youth Program, to our community based 124 drop-in program, we believe in the importance of positively engaging teens, and give them opportunities to try new activities, find new interests, and make new friends. During the summer we have skatepark programs, youth-specific greenshacks, and special events…all for free! We believe all teens should have assess to quality youth-driven program, and work with the city, communities and charitable organizations to facilitate these programs.
