Well, once again another summer has gone zooming by, and I’m sitting by a window with a beautiful view of the mountains that will soon be my new home. Last week, the Flowlab team was delighted to share our love of hooping through vending and hosting hoop jams at Shambhala Music Festival in the beautiful Kootenays, and this week, I’m delighted to relax for just a moment surrounded by the stunning mountains of Banff. Tomorrow, I head back to Edmonton for one month of packing, reorganizing, and preparing for an enormous life transition after which Banff will be my new home base, and I couldn’t be more excited for the inevitable peace and quiet that I’ve been so fortunate to get to sample regularly for the past year and a half.
With this big transition looming on the horizon, and a super exciting trip to SWHOOP in the UK in October (hosted by the marvelous Emma Kenna of Hooping Mad) we’re closing the Flowlab hoop shop until late October. This was a difficult decision to make, but we’ll be back later this fall, so stay tuned and watch the store for more of our popular 5 piece collapsible hoops that practically leapt off the shelves at Shambhala!
It’s difficult to say goodbye to a city I have called my home for the past 18 years, but there is comfort in knowing that I’ll be back in Edmonton quite regularly, sharing my love of hoopdance and creative movement with children in schools through Hooping For Kids, and with plans to lead monthly workshop intensives at the Bosco gym, I hope to remain connected to the hoop community that in many ways has become my other family.
Near the beginning of this wild and crazy summer, we wrapped up our 2 final series of weekly hoop classes, but I guess I should have known that I wouldn’t be able to stay out of the gym for long, and with increasing numbers of requests (“when are fall classes starting?”) filling my inbox, I’m delighted to announce that over the next 4 Tuesdays, I’ve decided to go forward with weekly 2-hour multilevel classes at the gym.
These classes will be open to ALL skill levels, so whether you are one of my regular students who has been missing our weekly gatherings, or you’re a new hooper who just bought your first hoop from us over the summer, these Tuesday night sessions will be engineered to give you maximum learning and inspiration to keep YOU spinning well into the fall!
Sign up for any or all of the 4 weeks, and share the news with your friends! Remember, all skill levels are welcome, so if you’re a seasoned hooper who has been trying to get your hoop-curious friends to try hoopdance on for size, then this is the perfect opportunity for them to come out and see what it’s all about. Use the coupon code BUDDYSYSTEM at the checkout, and save 20% off both of your registrations!
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was incredibly patient with me this summer as I tried my best to keep up with everything going on, but dropped a lot of balls along the way. Good thing I’m a hooper and not a juggler! (Yet?) I am deeply grateful for having so many gracious and calming people present, especially when things were going sideways (as was the case last week, when our van transmission blew up/out/apart only an hour into our trip to Shambhala – my entire crew remained cool, calm, AND cheerful, despite the stress and uncertainty and laaaaaate night driving that resulted from our misfortune!) I love you guys more than you know – thank you, thank you, thank you! This is exactly why my Edmonton hoop family means so much to me. See you all in the circle!
